what to do with freedom?

Okay, so it's been 24 hours since I shipped the good old MS off to editor (this makes it sound like I packaged it and sent it via freight, which would be romantic but awfully inefficient. E-mail is the way to go.) I am now looking to the week ahead and what I should be doing with my afternoons (since I'm supposed to be on "vacation" from writing you know). I do not want to get sucked into the great monster that is Pinterest (okay, maybe a little, but not the whole time).

So, this is where you guys come in. In this week of freedom I would like to:

-Try at least 1 new recipe (ie. get out of the rut of stir fry and spaghetti.)

-Go on 1 round of thrifting

-Look into putting plants on my porch (right now it is a sad, plantless place, yearning for green)

-Finish the first season of Downton Abbey (yes, I had to slip this in here. I started it last night and fell in love with the dresses. Don't judge.)

-Write a bunch of blog posts (for both this blog and others)

I will try to blog about many of these ventures. What about you guys? What do you do when you take a break from writing? And for you non-writers, what do you do when you get ambitious about projects/life?

  1. I could never judge your love for Downton dresses. If I had one of their evening gowns I would wear it constantly.

Free time? ... I forget what that looks like. BUT when I'm done with Torn next week I plan to 1) start training for a half marathon (it would be nice if the snow would stop for this one); 2) do some crafting; 3) do some fun research for novel#3 and catch up on my blogging.

Looking forward to hearing about what recipes you try out!

    1. I'm thinking about using my crockpot for the very first time! (another Pinterest inspiration) And I'm kind of jealous about your half marathon training. I used to run a lot but my knees decided that they hate it. :(

  2. Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day -- I have made a lot of bread, but this cookbook is amazing. You must at least check it out from the library. Make the bread, the pizza, and the bagels.

  3. I'm in one of those life periods where my free time is for writing, but once I finish what I'm working on, I want to take a little break and 1) do some exploring around Wales, 2) have marathon sessions of Doctor Who (I'm only up to the beginning of Season 4!) and 3) make some videos. I used to make tons of videos, and I miss that. I guess it's my hobby that will just always be a hobby. Oh, and there's this Harry Potter Party here at the Student Union on March 3rd, and I'm looking to that as my reward for finishing all this work! So, I guess 4) geek out about Harry Potter. :p

    1. I so jealous that you're in Wales! Definitely take advantage of that! Oh, and a Harry Potter Party sounds completely and utterly fabulous. Take lots of pictures!

  4. The first day I spend not even knowing what to do with myself! I ended up wasting almost the whole day trying to figure out something useful to do. :) Then I usually clean my house a little, but we all know that's no fun. That's when my other great time-consuming hobby, costuming, kicks in. :D

Good luck with the new recipe! I love trying ones too!
